I am still very new to making games and 3D rendering. Got great plans though. But before I begin any magnum opus I will improve my skills in the ShSt series. (Currently I have two more planned but may expand that to four.)
If you decide to 'buy' my games your money will go towards the development of future games (and paying the rent).
Alternatively you can consider supporting me on Patreon.
From the research I've done on other visual novels (some good, some great and some others) here are the things I find important when it comes to 3D adult visual novels. Please note that these are things I find important. I am not dissing other creators who might have other priorities or insights.
It can really take me out of a story if there are too many spelling mistakes, wierd sentences or gramatical errors.
Don't get me wrong I'll make plenty of mistakes as a non-native speaker and I want to stress again that I understand how hard it is to write in English when it is a second or even third language. I am not trying to diss anyone.
I think text is great in a visual novel for thoughts and speech. But if something can be shown visually it needs no repetition in text.
This is of course a grey area. A character can realistically think "Wow, what a big room." even if that is obvious from the accompanying image.
I use Daz3D for my games because, well, I'm a shit artist and can't draw for the life of me. In Daz3D you can buy 3D objects made by far more talented artists.
Many adult games use these stock assets. Trouble is that this makes those games rather same-y. To combat this I try to mix and match objects from different sets. Downside to this is that creating sets can take a relatively long time. But still I think it is worth it especially for important sets.
The Daz3D sets often seem straight out of an Ikea catalogue. To neat. Not like anyone actually lives there. With some small alterations the set can feel lived in (think a dirty glass in the kitchen sink; a toy on the floor of the living room; a painting that is not quite straight; some dirty laundry in the bedroom etc.)
In everyday conversation you are often doing something. I want to reflect this in my games. So not just have two people standing opposite of each other and having profound conversations.
This point is specific for adult novels. Some games are in a hurry to get naked and then show of their characters having sex. I however feel that undressing and heightening anticipation is very important and will take the time to show this off (if appropriate).
